Not all powders are created equal

I would imagine that a number of us use protein powder as part of our nutrition routine. Well I do anyway. I run 5 days a week and do weights twice a week. While I try to get the nutrition I need from a good diet that is not always how it really works. So we use supplements and powders to get our bodies what they need for all we put them through. I am not one for trying new things I usually just do some research on products, find one that seems to be the best and go with it. And this experience has shown me again that I should stick to that. I figured out that Body Fortress Vanilla was a good brand and flavor, so I used it religiously. Then right after I got divorced money got tight so I thought I would try a less pricey protein powder. I tried Elevation Vanilla powder. It is a whey powder just like the Body Fortress I normally use. And I did expect there to be differences in both taste and the powder itself. But I was not really ready for how drastic the differences would be. And spoiler alert, not in a good way. I found that the Elevation powder has a much sweeter taste to it, and it had an unpleasant aftertaste. The powder did have a strong flavor itself. Blueberries, strawberries, most fruits were not able to cover the taste. Only bananas could. And you get tired of one flavor after a while. The powder itself was very thick, more like moonsand (if you have kids, you get this) The powder had more moisture in it, it seemed so it got more packed in the scoop, and I think that is what made it clumpy in my shakes. It did not dissolve nearly as well in the blender. There was always lumps and gritty feeling to it. Which I am really not a fan of that texture. So I went back to the Body Fortress Vanilla. As a side note, the vanilla cream body fortress, also not good… So don’t shop in a hurry, be sure you grabbed Vanilla, and not Vanilla cream...
